History

  • The Assam Minorities Development Board was registered on 4th April, 1985 under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and was notified vide notification No.PLB.340/84/31 dated 13/06/1985. The object of the Board is “Charitable” particularly to benefit the 6 (Six) notified religious Minority Communities in Assam namely Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis. The Board is to advise ways and measures for the protection of constitutional rights of these particular communities. The Board is to identify the problems of socio-economic backwardness of the minority communities and formulate schemes for advancement of education and to promote employment opportunities amongst the notified minority communities.
